From the Bayou to the Blue Ridge 4

The red iron oxide bleeds from the soil. An hour and a half aboard the old mountain bike on the unfinished highway was a rude awakening to my lack of power. Eventhough I am recovering the engine has lost alot of power. I got out on the road bike for another hour plus just to make myself feel better.

From the Bayou to the Blue Ridge 3

Its just a lazy couple of miles down to the coast. I went down to see the coast in the day light for the first time. The effects of the hurricane season are visible, but not as serious. Over to Biloxi on the service road there is a sampling of the old houses that have stayed the hammering of the years abusive weather. I managed to hit my 53x12 for a few hundred meters on the highway as I headed back for the Fulton homestead. My sickness eems to be gone except a naging cough.

From the Bayou to the Blue Ridge 2

4 hours to D'Iberville. Flat, flat flat. 24 feet above sea level and climbing to 25 feet. If you can call a false flat a climb then there are a few 100 foot climbs here. At least that I have found so far. Its just what the doctor order. I had the flu for a week and a half before I decided to head for the gulf. The sun and easy miles are perfect.

Happy New Years

I have been down on myself about my lackluster season. My training has been on and off, and I just needed so time to refocus. And so I set off for the redkneck riveira. I set out New Years day for Gulfport Mississippi. Ten hours and you too could be in sunny Gulfport.

My good friend Ken Fulton was kind enough to put up my sorry bones up for a week or so. Kens house is under construction, and was staying with his parents which is right next to his house. Their 20+ acrage was recently cut in half by a new highway that is still under construction. Immenant domain. What a great idea right? Yeah, great. Anyway, its a beautiful place thats very different than what I am used to. And beautiful people are unparralleled in their welcoming. How could I go wrong? Thank you to the Fultons for their incredible southern hospitality.
